Redefining student living: the quiet rise of home study amongst university students

Although most people think that in the UK students leave home to go to university; living in halls then in a student house. The reality is that this is the increasingly not the experience for very many students. At some institutions it certainly is the prevalence, but at others, most students commute to their university. This is increasing and within 3 to 5 years it is likely to be the experience of over half of home undergraduates.

A short article for LinkedIn which looks at the disparity in teaching income per taught student FTE across the HE Sector in the UK. That those institutions which are able to attract greater overseas student numbers and taught postgraduates are able to generate a greater income per student. That the lower income level impacts the majority of students and that some institutions are able to offer a different experience as a consequence of their greater teaching income.
